2 C flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 T sugar
1/2 C butter
1 egg
2/3 C buttermilk (or if you don't have buttermilk pour 2/3 C milk into a separate bowl and add 1 tsp vinegar or lemon juice and let sit for 5 minutes before adding to the rest of the ingredients)
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, pour onto counter and knead (adding a little flour if necessary) until smooth and not sticky. Then roll out to 1 inch thickness and use a biscuit cutter or mason jar ring to cut out biscuits. Place on a greased pan and bake for 8 minutes at 425 Degrees F. After 8 minutes check and if the biscuits are not lightly browned bake a few more minutes until lightly browned.
These biscuits are amazing to use plain as a side with dinner, as breakfast sandwiches, and for biscuits and gravy. They also freeze amazing!
