Fire Cider Recipe

This folk remedy has been used and loved for a long time because it is that amazing!!


There is not just one recipe for this because they would change it up from year to year based on what grew well that season etc. The point of fire cider is to allow all of these good ingredients to steep in the apple cider vinegar so that you have a nutrient dense powerhouse tonic to take daily for overall health through the cold and sick season and/or take a higher dosage when you don’t feel well. 


Fire cider benefits:

-improve circulation

-improve brain function

-increases collagen production

-boosts immunity

-antiviral, antimicrobial, anti inflammatory

-contains vitamin C

-relieves pain, nausea, and anxiety


Recipe:

Your recipe can be modified based on what you have and you can add more or less of these ingredients to change the flavor to what you might like

You’ll need a large mason jar

-1/2 red onion chopped

-1 jalapeño chopped

-1 lemon chopped

-1 orange chopped

-10 cloves garlic chopped

-few sprigs fresh Rosemary

-handful black peppercorn 

-1 T turmeric

-1 T cayenne pepper

-1/2 C fresh ginger grated 

-fill jar with apple cider vinegar so all ingredients are covered and then a little above that


If using a metal lid be sure to put some parchment paper on before the lid. Let this sit in a cool dry place to steep for 3-6 weeks. Shake once daily. After the steeping period strain out pulp, add honey to taste, and store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months or in the fridge for up to 18 months. 

This is NOT for children under 1 due to the honey, and due to the spice not for young children. 

Dosage: take 1 T every day for overall health increase dosage to 3 T per day when you’re not feeling well. 


This can be taken plain, diluted in some water, added to soups, made into salad dressing, and can be a fun creative gift!
